The Challenge

Product training at DMG MORI used to take place mainly as classroom training: fixed location, fixed time, lots of knowledge all at once.

The time and organizational effort involved in finding dates and planning travel for on-site training was enormous. Some training courses on products or innovations were not available digitally.

This made it difficult to distribute knowledge across the 138 sales and service companies worldwide. In some cases, there were different levels of knowledge.

The Solution

DMG MORI used Masterplan to digitize all training courses for innovations and products within just a few months.

The training courses were recorded centrally, uploaded to Masterplan, knowledge queries formulated and assigned to all sales teams worldwide with just a few clicks!

In addition, they were standardized worldwide, are available in short video formats of 5 to 10 minutes and can be accessed on-demand on mobile or desktop .

The Result

DMG MORI has achieved measurable productivity gains through the introduction of digital learning. With Masterplan, a total of 1,800 working hours were saved in sales due to the elimination of travel time and more effective learning.

In just over a year, DMG MORI has created 50 of its own learning paths on Masterplan — with over 600 videos produced in-house.

What DMG MORI has to say about Masterplan:

"Short, to the point videos and motivating quizzes at the end to reinforce what you have learned. The videos are so short that you can watch them just before a customer appointment to refresh your knowledge, for example."

Stefan Peter
Head of Digital Academy, DMG MORI

"It's not easy to ensure a uniform level of knowledge worldwide. Scheduling, travel planning and the different levels of prior knowledge are a challenge."

Maurice Eschweiler
Chief Representative, DMG MORI
